Job title: Senior Research Strategist

Location: Remote - US only

Within the Insights + Innovation group, our Research Solutions team offers a full spectrum of market research services. We take a consultative approach to each project and utilize our comprehensive toolbox of both qualitative and quantitative research methods to gather essential learning that allows us to help guide our clients’ strategies.

 

SENIOR RESEARCH STRATEGIST ROLE DESCRIPTION:

We believe strongly in the power of data. But we also believe it is only half of the story. While bar graphs and pie charts are helpful, they are two dimensional and can quickly become lost in the plethora of facts and figures that bombard marketers and strategic decision makers each and every day.

 

As a result, the Senior Research Strategist must be equal parts business strategist and storyteller. A deep understanding of CPG and retail will be essential to success. This person will have a unique combination of skills that will allow him/her to understand client goals, collaboratively design unique and effective research programs, and communicate a strategic narrative in a way that resonates with our client audience.

 

The role requires a solid understanding of the plethora of quantitative and qualitative research techniques, a strong client service orientation, outstanding written communication skills, a keen eye for slide design, a mastery of PowerPoint, and exceptional public speaking presence.

 

This position assists in the identification of opportunities, engages new and existing clients, manages client relationships and research partners, and above all consults with clients on how research learning impacts their strategy.

 

KEY TASKS:

  • Engage in client discussions about EIQ specialties and capabilities & POV of Research Solutions
  • Consult with clients to understand and document business objectives
  • Work collaboratively with research team and partners to identify creative research designs to address client objectives
  • Develop project budgets to ensure profitability in design
  • Act as a liaison between client and partners executing research to ensure execution runs smoothly and client needs are met
  • Bring the client’s voice to research programs, reviewing project materials to ensure research questions are answered and business goals are addressed
  • Take research learning and deliverables provided by partners to the finish line, ensuring a strategic narrative and visual appeal is incorporated into the report for final presentation to the client
  • Influence Strategy for EnsembleIQ’s brands/publications
  • Work with brand directors and chief editors to develop compelling research programs that will drive revenue and growth for the brands
  • Partner with third party vendors to execute research that will drive a strong narrative for the brands’ readers
  • Present meaningful stories based on research + industry applications at EnsembleIQ events
  • Travel to meetings, presentations, and conferences as needed (up to 35% of the time overall)

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree, preferably in Market Research, Social Sciences, or Humanities (e.g. English, Anthropology, History, etc.)
  • 5+ years of hands-on market research experience (both qualitative and quantitative in nature), with some of that experience being in CPG and/or Retail
  • 2+ years of experience with the sales process, either by supporting business development or acting as an account manager
  • 2+ years of experience managing vendors or junior level staff, delegating research execution and performing higher level consultative research activities
  • Has exceptional presentation skills with dynamic approach that inspires
  • Is highly proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel with a mastery of Power Point

 

NOTE: This is a remote position (no commuting). All employees within EIQ Research Solutions work from home offices around the country. There is opportunity to utilize an office if you are located in the Chicago, IL or Newark, NJ areas.
