About the Role: The Membership Development Manager for the Path to Purchase Institute is responsible for driving new members and engagement among existing member brand/retail/solution provider companies. This takes place through improved site usage, membership upgrades, and participation in Institute events, programs, and publications. Connect with member companies to identify opportunities, suggest content, and provide feedback to the editorial, events, and research teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Membership renewals and upgrades, and assist with sourcing new brand and retailer members 25% (time allocation)

  • Acquisition of new members 40% (time allocation)

  • Secure participation of P2PI member companies (and potential new members) in Institute events.) 25%

  • Assist with analysis and “productization” of additional member services – possibly including Training/Education, Consulting Services, etc. 5%

  • Assist with facilitating events and training 5%

  • Effectively advise and influence members through consultative selling techniques.

  • Research the member environment and organization to be able to identify key opportunity areas for maximum business impact

  • Articulate member benefits & solutions in terms of value/ROI to the member

  • Utilize other P2PI team members, including Membership Experience Managers, editorial staff, media sales, event and executive management, to achieve business objectives

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, comfortable with public speaking and presentations.

  • Rely on excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to initiate and maintain executive-level interaction and customer satisfaction

  • Provide client and prospect feedback to improve and develop new services for our Institute members

  • Continually build and capitalize on industry knowledge and contacts to uncover business opportunities.

  • Required- domestic travel to Institute and industry events

Job requirements

Successful candidates should be driven, passionate, creative, self-starters, innovative and strategic thinkers. The candidate must possess the ability to lead and work in a team environment.

  • 3-5 years' experience in trade association management, data insight services, or commerce agencies in either a sales or marketing function

  • Strong customer first, customer service “mindset.”

  • Retail and consumer goods industry knowledge required

  • Some technical understanding of business intelligence, analytics, or commerce marketing is preferred

  • Demonstrated track record of success in meeting challenging objectives. Demonstrated success managing a large account relationship

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Demonstrated success developing new account opportunities

  • Experience with Fortune 500 accounts in the consumer goods vertical
