About the Role: The member content editor plays a key role in supporting all initiatives related to content on p2pi.org, with primary responsibility for maintaining our roughly 30 retailer profiles. The retailer profiles can be best explained as living encyclopedic entries that require constant tending to reflect the ever-changing retail landscape, encompassing a wide breadth of content ranging from a retailer’s marketplace position and strategy, to store formats and merchandising tactics, to loyalty programs and cause-marketing initiatives, to e-commerce capabilities and media opportunities.
Reporting to the Director of Member Content, you will keep up with a plethora of sources to stay up to date on any relevant information about the retailers we cover. Your role as the de facto warden of the retailer profiles includes both ensuring the integrity of our existing lineup, as well as adding new retailers to the mix. You’ll work independently and use your critical thinking skills to incorporate emerging information into the retailer profiles in a timely manner, as well as eliminate outdated information, all while maintaining a seamless and fluid narrative as well as a high standard of excellence in work product. You will also lean on your fact-finding skills to actively seek out new sources of difficult-to-find information as well as identify and execute opportunities to present certain information within the profiles in a more streamlined and digestible manner, including infographics, charts, tables, etc. as appropriate.
Beyond your primary retailer profile responsibility, you will also work closely with the editorial team - as well as liaison with the membership and events teams - to contribute articles, meet with members, weigh in on research, and conduct other tasks as needed.
Ensure 30+ retailer profiles are complete and up to date at all times, incorporating the latest available information with the utmost accuracy
Collect, analyze and incorporate into the retailer profiles data from various sources, including publicly available financial filings, press releases and other news sources, webinars and detailed reports, information from proprietary content partners, internal databases, and direct contact with industry partners
Translate information into a clear, concise and organized manner, both incorporating and trimming text as well as charts, tables and infographics as appropriate to maintain a seamless narrative
Regularly review profile content for technical errors, such as clarity, grammatical issues, accuracy of facts and word usage
Create new retailer profiles and contribute to projects requiring specific retailer information, as needed
Executive various initiatives and ad hoc projects
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree in English/communication/journalism preferred
3-5 years of industry experience
Excellent English comprehension and writing skills
Ability to leverage research skills and other creative and exhaustive practices to surface information that is vital to the retailer profiles
A basic understanding of HTML, Excel and Photoshop
Extremely detail-oriented and able to accurately incorporate findings into existing content
Ability to work rapidly to meet deadlines without compromising quality
Experience posting to a content management system would be helpful
A familiarity with the CPG and retail marketing industries is preferred
