About the Role: You’ll serve as the lead editor for Retail Leader, a digital platform serving the unique needs of high-level retail and brand executives with insights, business intelligence and inspiration to drive innovation across all retail sectors. You’ll be responsible for executing our daily news and weekly newsletters, in addition to occasional longer-form features and special reports, hosting editorial and custom webinars as needed, and running the Retail Leader Trend Talk podcast and video series. You’ll collaborate with other editors on social media content and scheduling, as well as with the Editorial Director on overall content strategy, editorial calendars and other brand initiatives.
Write and publish curated industry news articles on RetailLeader.com. Maintain a Trending News section to aggregate additional must-know stories from around the web.
Work with the digital editor to distribute three email newsletters per week.
Visually optimize content for busy executive engagement through the use of images, infographics, videos and polls.
Create, publish on RetailLeader.com a weekly Trend Talk article with video series/podcast episodes (working in tandem with our in-house video editor).
Moderate/host webinars, Book Club and other virtual events as needed.
Lead long-term addition of new features (event, digital and occasional print products) to further engage the community and create business partnership opportunities.
Manage freelance contracted and volunteer industry influencer contributors as appropriate.
Maintain a leading market-facing role, building relationships with audience, customers, associations and influencers as sources for business development (travel 10-20%).
Other responsibilities will be assigned based on evolving business needs.
- At least 5+ years B2B or B2C digital editorial content management experience
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent training
- Experience with moderating/hosting webinars and/or virtual events
- Proven ability to create and visually package compelling and engaging multimedia content
- Proficiency with digital content management and audience metrics tools
- Previous podcast experience preferred
- Robust network of retail industry contacts and relationships preferred
- Self-motivated, independent, collaborative and skilled multimedia journalist with expertise in the AP style
- Excellent presentation, writing, proofreading and interpersonal communication skills
- Ability to travel up to 20%
