About The Role

Director of Member Development and New Business Development for The Path to Purchase Institute, responsible for driving new memberships and engagement among existing member companies. Specifically, this role will drive membership engagement (through improved site usage and membership upgrades), sales and revenue of P2PI content, Learning Lab tailored training, research and events into Brands/Retailers, and recruitment of Brands/Retailers to participate in Institute events, offerings, and publications. Identification and resolution of problems and opportunities with P2PI Member companies. Providing continuous feedback to editorial, events, and research teams about the needs and opportunities within the commerce ecosystem.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Membership renewals, upgrades, and assistance in finding new brand and retailer members 20%
  • Lead and execute new membership growth strategy 20%
  • Prioritize and support Institute members in your territory. Engage opportunity members, build solid relationships, and convert them to P2PI Advocates. Increase engagement, build annual plans for strategic customers, increase depth and breadth of member penetration. 20%
  • Secure participation of P2PI member companies (and potential new members) in Institute strategic initiatives and share groups 20%

Secondary Responsibilities

  • Assist with analysis and “productization” of additional member services – possibly including Training/Education, Consulting Services, etc. 10%
  • Assist with facilitating events and training within public and Learning Lab Tailored 10%

Key Required Activities

  • Effectively advise and influence members through consultative selling techniques

  • Research the member environment and organization to be able to identify key opportunity areas for maximum business impact

  • Articulate member benefits & solutions in terms of value/ROI to the member

  • Utilize other P2PI team members including Membership Experience Managers, editorial staff, media sales, event and executive management to achieve business objectives

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, comfortable with public speaking, presentations.

  • Rely on excellent leadership and interpersonal skills to initiate and maintain executive-level interaction and customer satisfaction

  • Develop new business opportunities and close new account business from retailer and consumer goods members

  • Provide client and prospect feedback to improve and develop new services to our Institute members

  • Continually build and capitalize on industry knowledge and contacts to uncover business opportunities

  • Some Required travel

Job requirements

A successful candidate is driven, passionate, creative, a self-starter, innovative and a strategic thinker. The candidate must possess the ability to lead and work in a team environment. They also bring to the role:

  • 7-10 yrs experience in trade association management, data insight services, or commerce agencies in either a sales or marketing function

  • Strong customer first, customer service “mindset”

  • Retail and consumer goods industry knowledge required

  • Experience with Fortune 500 accounts in the consumer goods vertical

  • Demonstrated track record of success in meeting challenging objectives. High percentage success record for making sales goals

  • Demonstrated success managing a large account relationships

  • Demonstrated success developing new account opportunities

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, comfortable with public speaking, presentations.

  • Some technical knowledge of business intelligence, analytics, or commerce marketing is preferred

  • Some travel required
